Las Paletas (Nashville)

June 16, 2010

Huh? There’s no such thing as a sizzling popsicle. That’s just a foodie term for steaks, right? Not anymore. If you haven’t found your way to Las Paletas, located at 2907 12th Avenue South, then you haven’t lived. These are definitely popsicles that sizzle. With flavors like cucumber chile, Mexican caramel, rose petal, and hibiscus, you can bet on this being more than what you find in your grocer’s freezer.

So, how’s it taste?

Chilly perfection on a hot (or even cold) day. Every time I try a new flavor, I’m just blown away by how good it is. They taste so fresh, that with every bit you can tell it’s from a delicious, natural ingredient. None of that processed junk here. The popsicles in the picture above are (from top to bottom) watermelon, coconut lime, and pineapple raspberry. Both the watermelon and pineapple raspberry were bursting with fruit. The coconut lime was my favorite from that day. So creamy with bits of coconut and it had a nice zing to it from the lime. In past visits I’ve had the hibiscus and the chocolate strawberry. It gets tougher and tougher each time I go to decide which pop to try. The menu changes daily, so it’s always fun to see what new creation is on the board. Be sure to stop in soon!
