Peanut Butter & Banana Wraps

Today’s post is brought to you by the letter R and the number 2. Ha! I don’t have kids or nieces/nephews, or any young uns for that matter, but it doesn’t stop me from making awesome kid snacks…because they taste so darn yummy! I’ve been making these Peanut Butter & Banana Wraps for years. They are so good, even though it’s the simplest idea for a snack or dessert. They take no time to make and you probably have most of the ingredients on hand already. Full of different textures, one of these wraps will satisfy your craving for something sweet. They’re on the messy side, but I think that’s the sign of a good treat. 🙂

So, how’s it taste?

Even though this is something you might find in a kid’s lunchbox, I have no problem making these for myself. Sometimes I use creamy peanut butter, sometimes crunchy, and sometimes almond butter. The crunchy peanut butter is a heftier wrap, so it almost works as a meal. The almond butter makes it a little more grown up, I think. I love all the different textures with the creamy peanut butter, chunks of banana, and bits of chocolate chips. The honey rounds it out with a different flavor of sweet and as you hold the wrap, it starts to melt and ooze out from the heat of your hands. This is the messy part, which I don’t mind!

I added the cinnamon to the original recipe and I love how it gives it a subtle spice. The wrap is a little hard to roll up if you get crazy like I do and fill it too much. (Which also leads to mine always being messy!) On the Betty Crocker site, a few reviewers noted they leave the banana whole and roll it up that way. That leaves me to ask “Where do the chocolate chips go?” because I’m not leaving those out! Maybe you could press them into the banana? I say who cares if it’s messy. Perfect excuse to lick those fingers and eat like a kid!
